Petersen Industries, Inc. Awarded Patent on PL-3 Loading System

Petersen Industries, Inc., manufacturer of grapple trucks and bulky waste collection systems, announces the January 11, 2011 issuance of U.S. Patent #7,866,934 for the apparatus and method for removably attaching a loading device to a vehicle.

Petersen’s PL-3 Lightning Loader® roll-off system comes equipped with this patented method and apparatus, used to secure the dump body and loader into place on the cable-type roll-off hoist. Composed of hooks and hydraulic cylinders, this securing device is Petersen’s newest patented innovation. Previously, all installation of this unit took place at Petersen’s plant located in Lake Wales, Florida. This new patented system allows the option for dealer installation of the PL-3, saving time and reducing cost. Petersen Industries, Inc. manufactures equipment for the trash, agricultural, arboricultural, and aggregate markets. Petersen’s Lightning Loader® grapple trucks are used by over 900 cities and counties nationwide, and by most major waste companies. In the mid 1970's Petersen designed a knuckleboom that could be used for loading bulky trash. The result was a trash loader concept that has been improved and refined over the last 30 years. With the exception of 3 or 4 purchased items, Petersen manufactures all other major components, including most hydraulic cylinders. With complete CNC machining capabilities and fabrication facilities, Petersen is able to control every aspect of schedule and quality control.
